FAQs
Q. Why have you developed this app?
A. Neighbourhood policing is about giving people easy access to their local police team, a say over local priorities, ability to get involved in keeping your area safe and be kept informed. The app lets people do that at their convenience.
Q. Why is it only available in Runnymede?
A. Runnymede was the pilot area for the new application to test out the concept in a controlled way. This was the forerunner of a full countywide rollout.
Q. When will that be?
A. The roll out will start later this year and progress to other boroughs as quickly as we are able to update the application and train staff.
Q. Is it only available for use on the Apple iphone?
A. Currently it is only available for free download from the Apple App Store but it will soon be available for the Google Android market. Discussions have also started about the feasibility of developing the app for BlackBerry.
Q. Where do I download this app from?
A. The app can be downloaded free of charge from the Apple App Store. Simply type 'Surrey Police' into the search bar, or alternatively there is a link on the Surrey Police website.
Q. What information will the app give me?
A. The app will allow you to see who your Safer Neighbourhood team members are, where they are working, what they're working on and how to contact them. You can also vote on your local neighbourhood priorities, find your nearest station and local events.
Q. It states that you can see where the Safer Neighbourhood officers are, doesn't that mean criminals will be able to use this information to their advantage?
A. This app only applies to the Safer Neighbourhood officers and does not give the location information of all Surrey Police officers. The app doesn't track officers' every move but it will sign post where the officer is at the time they update the information and this will not change until the next update is posted. It improves visibility on those issues communities have told us are important to them.
Q. How can I give you feedback on what I think about the app?
A. We are very keen to receive any feedback from the public and this can be done by reviewing the app via the App Store, or using the 'Contact Us' button for Multizone in the 'About' section of the app.
