Fingerprints for Visa Applications
Surrey Police offer a fingerprint taking service for people whose fingerprints are required for overseas visa or security applications.
The service is available Monday to Friday between 07.30 - 12.00 and 14.00 - 17.00 but is not available at weekends or Bank Holidays. It is only available at Surrey Police Headquarters and an appointment is required prior to arrival.
There is a charge for this service, £63 for the first set of prints then £32 for any additional sets for either the same person or any other family members who are fingerprinted at the same time.
You will be required to bring with you:
- Current valid passport
- Paperwork detailing why a set of fingerprints is required
- Proof of address (utility bill, bank statement, etc.)
- Payment (cash or cheque only, no credit or debit cards will be accepted)

Other Useful Information
USA - The US will only accept FBI Fingerprint forms which you will be expected to provide. The form can be downloaded from their website, so please ensure that you have this prior to attending as no other fingerprint form will be accepted.
South Africa - A full set of fingerprints is required for South African passport renewal and must be taken on a specific fingerprint form. The form is available from the South African Embassy, please ensure that you have this prior to attending as no other fingerprint form will be accepted.
For South African identity cards a single thumb print is required. This can be taken at your local Police station who will take the print at no cost.
